The Five Historic Districts
Upper Town District
Stroll through this charming historic district, known for its impressive estates and spacious ground, a testament to the wealth of prosperous merchant ship owners. Built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these elegant residences showcase a stunning variety of architectural styles, including Neo-Gothic, Neoclassical, Queen Anne Revival, Colonial, Italianate, and English Classicism.
Fort Gate District
The Fort Gate district is centred around the Fort Anne National Historic Site - North America's oldest extant fort, dating from 1629. Constructed in four phases, the current fort dates from around 1703.
Governor's Quarter District
Explore the charming commercial district, where historic architecture is beautifully unified by the use of similar materials. Don’t miss the Sinclair Inn, the only remaining Acadian structure from before the Expulsion—a true gem of the past!
Seigneurial Estate
The origins of the Seigneurial Estate are still unclear, but may date from as early as 1610. We know that by 1686, the Seigneur of Port Royal had his private estate here. The buildings on Lower Saint George Street, many of which date from the late 18th century, were built on earlier buildings from the 17th century that were part of the Seigneurial Estate.
Glebe District
Not just pleasant on the outside, our Pleasantview Gem Inn properties are especially popular among families. With underground parking and floor-to-ceiling windows, there's no shortage of natural light or space.
